American women did not became full citizens with Voting Rights until 1920 – that’s 95 years ago. That was an extraordinary accomplishment, say a vocal coalition of New Mexican organizations, but there’s still along way to go. In fact, recently Hollywood actresses Meryl Streep and Jane Fonda weighed in calling for Congress and Presidential candidates to support the ERA.
KSFR’s Marguerite Kearns attended a late-summer rally in Albuquerque to generate support for the ERA and send a message to members of the state's Congressional delegation that their help is urgently needed to move the issue forward nationally.
We bring you this story in observance of National Constitution Week, which concludes today.
