Santa Fe Wages Fall Short of Nationwide Average

Jul 28, 2017

Service jobs in the restaurant industry were shown to yield higher-than-average wages in Santa Fe. Most other fields, including traditionally high-paying professions like management and legal services, lagged behind.

Last week, the Santa Fe New Mexican reported that Santa Fe workers in most professions earn an average of 11 percent less than the nationwide average in their given field, with even larger gaps for roles that pay higher overall. That's based on figures from a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report which analyzed local wages as of May 2016.

Journalist Rebecca Moss, who reported that story for the New Mexican, helped me break down the numbers.
