Oct. 5 - Prescribed Burn Firefighting Team Includes Female Firefighters & International Trainees

The controlled burn to thin out the national forest where part of Santa Fe’s water supply originates is being called a success, although smoke from it prompted numerous calls to the US Forest Service from concerned residents last week.  On Friday we brought you part one of a series on the fire lines and how a prescription burn is carried out.  That piece, by Deborah Martinez, is posted at ksfr.org. Today Deborah introduces us to two women in a field of male firefighting professionals, and how others are taking New Mexico’s fire management techniques to other, Spanish-speaking countries.
