Nov. 3 - "Welfare Reform" All But Ends Aid To Families Living In Poverty

What President Bill Clinton called "welfare reform" has really turned out to be "welfare withdrawal."  In ending Aid for Families with Dependent Children, this so-called reform all but stopped income support, substituting in-kind help like Food Stamps and Housing subsidies, and leaving the poorest of America's poor families virtually penniless.  Kathryn Edin, the author of the new book $2 a Day told KSFR's Dave Marash on HERE & THERE, in today's post-recession world, these families, including some 3 million children, have been left without any prospects for decent jobs or safe places to live.
