Mar. 27 First News: "Anonymous" Computer Hackers Announce Cyber-Protest Against APD (Listen)

The Albuquerque Police Department's recent well-documented shooting spree targeting citizens has prompted a foreboding You Tube Video posted by the group, “anonymous” that calls for APD to be targeted by the group's hackers. It's calling for a cyber-protest to be waged on Sunday. *****032714-Anonymous-1 :18***** The video has the attention of City of Albuquerque officials. Chief Administrative Officer Rob Perry says the organization has a, quote, “fairly robust history of success.”

 

The City of Santa Fe's population is just shy of 83-thousand, growing due to the city's recent annexation. The information is compiled in the City's annual “Santa Fe Trends” report that Long-Range Planning Director Reed Liming highlighted at Wednesday's city council meeting:*****032714-Liming-2 :17***** Liming also says the report indicates Santa Fe Trails Bus ridership went up, exceeding one-million riders for the second consecutive year.

 

New Mexico is tied with Mississippi for the dubious distinction of being the states most dependent on the federal government. That according to WalletHub, the personal finance social network. States were ranked in three areas: return on taxes paid to the federal government, federal funding as a percentage of state revenue and the number of federal employees per capita. The study also found that so-called “blue states,” those voting Democratic in the last presidential election, were less dependent on the feds than “red states,” those that voted Republican, that had an average score of 33.3 . A lower number indicates less dependency on the feds.

 

There’s a move to increase film production in southern New Mexico. State and local leaders gathered in Doña Ana County on Tuesday to announced plans to build an outdoor film set at Corralitos Ranch in Las Cruces. The ranch has already been used in the film “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” The property will be owned by the city of Las Cruces and officials say the lot will give students experience working in film production and provide job opportunities.
