June 6 First News: Nurses' Union At Santa Fe Hospital Upset At Contract Provision (Listen)

Santa Fe’s Christus-St. Vincent Hospital, which is negotiating a contract with the union representing its nurses, is pushing a provision that calls for punishment of any employee who reveals hospital staffing information. The Republican Governors Association has purchased more than 100-thousand dollars’ worth of television time in New Mexico for airing a political ad that begins airing today. Attorney General Gary King won the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in Tuesday's primary and will face GOP Governor Susana Martinez in the November general election. The RGA has been airing negative ads against Democratic gubernatorial candidates in other states, including Iowa. A spokesman for the group declined to describe the advertisement.

A pro-environment organization says the bulk of candidates it supported in Tuesday’s New Mexico Primary election won, and is pledging to assist candidates in the November general election. Demis Foster is Executive Director of Conservation Voters of New Mexico. Foster says six of eight candidates CVNM backed for seats in the New Mexico House of Representatives and the Public Regulation Commission were victorious. *****060614-Foster-3 (q: our two pacs) :25***** Foster says Conservation Voters of New Mexico makes endorsements based on candidate conservation records and their positions on related topics.

We’re expecting to hear later this morning what Governor Susana Martinez says is a “significant announcement” regarding future hiring plans at the Fidelity Investments office in Albuquerque. Fidelity, which began operations in Albuquerque in 2008, currently employs about 500 people at its office in Mesa del Sol.
