Dec. 6 First News: Numerous Delays As Northern New Mexico Recovers From Snowstorm. (Listen)

  The snowstorm that hit much of New Mexico Thursday has led to several delays this morning. They include:

The New Mexico Department of Transportation’s NM-Roads-Dot-Com website indicates difficult driving conditions for the most state highways in north-central New Mexico. Many secondary streets in the city of Santa Fe remain snow-packed and slick in areas and drivers are urged to proceed cautiously.

Former Democratic state senate leader Manny Aragon who was convicted of conspiracy and mail fraud for his role in an Albuquerque courthouse fraud scandal has been released from federal prison. Aragon was released Thursday from a federal lockup in Colorado, where he had been serving time since June 2009. Aragon was accused of pocketing 650-thousand dollars in a scheme with four other people to bilk the state out of $4.2 million during construction of the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Courthouse. The former state Senate president was one of the most influential politicians of his era.

Workers, labor activists and supporters in Albuquerque and Las Cruces protested at fast-food restaurants as part of a national effort calling for higher wages. The protesters braved snow and frigid temperatures as they rallied in Albuquerque and Las Cruces, where Sara Nolan led a local protest at a McDonald’s restaurant. *****Dec. 6 Nolan-1  :20***** Nolan is advocating for a rise in the Las Cruces minimum wage from seven-fifty an hour to ten dollars an hour.
