August 20 - New SWAIA COO Dallin Maybee On Indian Market's Economic Impact

Tonight is the official launch of this year's Southwestern Association for Indian Arts Indian Market, an event that traditionally brings tens of thousands of market goers to Santa Fe and easily tens of millions of dollars to native artists from around the country. KSFR's Zelie Pollon was at the convention center in downtown Santa Fe as artists presented their entries for “best of show.” Dallin Maybee, northern Arapaho and Seneca, became SWAIA's  chief operating officer a year and a half ago. He describes the economic and cultural importance of the Indian market on Santa Fe and New Mexico.

Zelie also spoke with a handful of the many artists who will be present this weekend. Click Here to hear what they had to say.

As Dallin Maybee noted, the 2015 Indian Market kickoff party begins this evening at eight in front of the Santa Fe convention center. A ticketed luncheon for the presentation of Best of Show awards will be held tomorrowafternoon beginning at 11:30am. KSFR will have a live feature during tomorrow's noon newscast. You can go to SWAIA's website for a full list of events for the coming weekend. That's SWAIA-dot-org
