Charles was born in New Mexico and graduated from the Albuquerque Academy. He received his B.S. in Psychology from T.C.U. and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery from the Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona Ca. Assistant Professor of Family Practice at a medical school, Medical Director of a large Chemical Dependency Hospital, and for many years as a Family Practice physician at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla Ca. He is certified in the Treatment of Addictive Disorders. Since retirement from practice, he has pursued a career in acting, directing, writing, and radio news casting. He has appeared in numerous stage productions in the California and New Mexico and has played lead roles in
The Odd Couple, The Owl and the Pussycat, The Taming of the Shrew, My Three Angels, and A Christmas Carol. His one man show ‘Henry Miles’ has been produced in California, Arizona, and New Mexico. Local directing credits include The Sunshine Boys, and Morning Time Train. He has also appeared in numerous roles in commercials, television shows, and movies. Maynard’s first book, ‘Thriving Through Devastating Illness’ is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2013 by Intermundia Press. In addition he has appeared throughout the country performing stand up comedy. He has worked in the news department at KSFR Radio in Santa Fe since 2010.
